Laying the Foundation: A Reflection on Co-Creation with the Divine

Updated: Mar 25

Hello!

This time of year is a period of deep reflection for me. There are multiple reasons for this. Firstly, it's the anniversary of my son's transition to spirit, which happened 11 years ago. Secondly, it marks the end of the Gregorian calendar and the promise of a new beginning.

Refortifying My Foundation

This year has been about strengthening my foundation. I want to ensure there are no cracks in the concrete or water seeping in. It’s vital that my free will is divinely inspired rather than pursued selfishly.

I share this with you today because I've learned that I am a conscious creator. However, it’s essential to realize that this journey is a co-creation with the divine. Together, we’ve created a blueprint that is not only beautiful but also quite relevant for my life today. Out with the old and in with the new! Happy New Year!

Inspiration from "The Language of Letting Go"

Today's inspiration comes from The Language of Letting Go by Melody Beattie. She also authored Codependent No More, a book that was a game changer for me at the start of my spiritual quest. It helped me disentangle the knots created by my upbringing and learned behaviors.

This reading aligned perfectly with my morning's sadhana.

December 30th: Laying the Foundation

The groundwork has been laid.

Do you not see that? Don’t you understand that everything you’ve gone through has a purpose? There was a good reason for the waiting, the struggle, the pain, and finally, the release. You have been prepared.

Just like a builder must first tear down and dig out the old to make way for the new, your higher power has been cleaning out the foundation of your life.

Have you ever watched a builder at work? When they begin, it often looks worse than before. Old and decayed materials must be removed or reinforced. No builder who cares about their work would put a new surface over an insufficient support system. The foundation would not last.

If the final product is to meet your expectations, the work must be done thoroughly from the ground up. As this work progresses, it often looks chaotic. It may even seem like a waste of time and effort because we can’t yet see the final product.

Yet, it’s crucial that the foundation is laid correctly. The finishing touches will only shine if the groundwork is solid.

The Purpose Behind Hard Times

This long and challenging time in your life has served a purpose. Although the reason may not have been clear at times, it is there. Your foundation has been laid. The structure is now solid. It's time for the finishing touches, the completion. It's time to move the furniture in and enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Congratulations! You have had the patience to endure the tough parts. You have trusted, surrendered, and allowed your higher power to heal and prepare you.

Now, you will enjoy all the good that has been promised. You will see the purpose. Everything will come together, and it will all make sense.

Surrendering to the Process

Today, I will surrender to the laying of the foundation—this groundwork in my life. If it’s time to enjoy the placement of the finishing touches, I will embrace that too. I will remember to be grateful for the higher power that is a master builder, consistently looking out for my best interests while constructing my life.

I appreciate the care and attention my higher power has devoted to laying this foundation, even when I feel impatient. I will stand in awe of the beauty of the divine's finished product.

Through this process, I am reshaping my approach to life. I am learning that waiting and enduring can lead to immense beauty and strength. The lessons I have learned were not in vain; they were necessary steps toward a more fulfilling existence.

Everything we're building—every experience, every struggle—contributes to the final design of our lives. By recognizing that we are not alone in this journey and that we are continually co-creating with the divine, we can find greater peace.

May your new year be filled with divine inspiration and clarity as we lay our foundations together!
